The Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) announced that its 110 Government Call Center that gives complaints counseling service to citizens begins Mobile Originated Service (MOS) from July 1st, 2009.

With the introduction of MOS, 110 Government Call Center expects that it can enhance efficiency in counseling by providing citizens with quick and convenient counseling service over simple matters and that it can offer service not only to those who are unable to use counseling service because of their hearing or speech problems but also to those who are in a situation where making a phone call is difficult. It is thought that MOS will be popular with the so called “thumb generation,” or youngsters who find themselves more familiar with text messaging than calling.

Without subion process, people can use MOS by simply typing in what they want to talk about on their cell phone and sending the message to 110 Government Call Center with receiver’s number “110” (without an area code or other numbers). MOS is available during opening hours of 110 Government Call Center, which is from 8a.m to 9p.m (Monday to Friday) and from 9a.m to 1p.m (Saturday).

MOS covers all government administrative affairs ranging from information on government offices nation-wide, to tax, to government statistics, to social welfare, to traffic inconvenience, etc.

As MOS costs users only 20 won per message without data fee, it will stoke up interest of many prospective users.
