Facing US Tariffs, ACRC Communicates to Address Grievances of Foreign Businesspeople

 

- ACRC holds a policy roundtable, presents anti-corruption policy direction, and listens to difficulties and proposal for institutional improvement with representatives of foreign chambers of commerce on April 17, at Government Complex Seoul

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC, Chairperson Ryu Chul Whan) will hold a platform ofcommunication to create a good environment for foreign companies to invest and to support foreign businessperson’s daily life in Korea.

 

ACRC will meet executives and employees of the global chambers of commerce and holds a policyroundtable to listen to the voices of the businesses in person and to share the anti-corruption policy of the government.

 

There will be 15 executives and members from chambers of commerce located in Korea, including Chairman of American Chamber of Commerce James Kim, CEO of the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mari Antonia von Schönburg, President of the European Chamber of Commerce Stefan Ernst, Executive Director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Rowan Petz, CEO of the France Chamber of Commerce Sonia Chaieb, President of the Spain Chamber of Commerce Roger Josep Royo Gascon.

 

ACRC will share cases of resolved business grievances and hold in-depth discussions on difficulties and suggestions of foreign companies operating in Korea at the Roundtable.

 

The anti-corruption achievements will be introduced, such as dissemination of culture of integrity through implementation of Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, Comprehensive Integrity Assessment, and inspection on Conflict of Interestand publication of ethical business guideline for private company. The will of the government to create a transparent and fair business environment will be presented.

 

ACRC Chairperson Ryu Chul Whan said, "Concerns are rising among businessesas uncertainty in the global economy has increased due to the recent tariff policy of the U.S. government. ACRC will continue to endeavorto create a clean society that is good for business by supporting foreign capital investment and international trade environment in Korea through communication with foreign businesses."
