ACRC leads by example in administrative affairs

Chairman Lee Jae Oh made 112 on-site visits from his inauguration on September 30th until November 30th. He made, on average, 3 on-site visits per day for 38 out of 43 working days to meet people, listen to their difficulties and collect a variety of policy proposals. For 5 working days he was unable to pay on-site visit because he was busy fielding questions in the National Assembly.


 


He made 20 on-site visits to construction sector, 14 to production and distribution scenes, 32 to underdeveloped areas, 26 to needy neighbors and 20 to the scene of integrity education and etc. His on-site visit was made to 20 construction sites,


 


Through on-site visits, Chairman Lee received 369 cases of proposals made and difficulties experienced by the people, and dealt with 209 cases on the spot by mediating or suggesting ways to work out problems. For 160 cases, he reflected 160 cases in institutional improvements or is taking follow-up measures by consulting with government agencies concerned.


 


By holding on-site mediation meetings, ACRC Chairman resolved 5 major long pending collective complaints that caused a lot of controversy including complaint regarding easing conditions for flight safety area at Sokcho Airport.   


 


On Sunday, November 23rd, Chairman Lee visited foreign laborers residing in Korea to listen to their difficulties. During his overseas business trip to Thailand (November 3rd through 4th) and Qatar (November 7th through 13th), he met with Korean expatriates to listen to their difficulties, and visited construction and industrial sites.


 


 A team of ACRC officials visit more than one place every day, with themes of fine-tuning institution on Monday, taking care of people’s livelihood on Tuesday and correcting unfair administrative practices, etc.  


 


 One ACRC official said “Since our on-site visit is regarded as an administrative example that places priority on meeting ordinary citizens to actively resolve their difficulties and inconvenience, the ACRC will continue on-site visits.”
