Punishment & Detection Policy
“While you protect the society, the laws protect you”
Secret is kept, identity is protected, and courage is rewarded.
For the reporter, personal protective measures are guaranteed; personal information and safety are protected; possible culpability may
be reduced or exempt; and rewards of no more than 3 billion Korean won or monetary awards of no more than 200 million Korean won may be paid.

Status Guarantee
- If a reporter is subject to disadvantageous measures against his or her status, discrimination in working conditions, or economic or administrative disadvantages due to reporting, then appropriate measures of reinstatement should be taken.

Confidentiality of Personal Information
- Any personal information of a reporter or any proofs from which the identity of a reporter can be inferred should not be disclosed without a consent from the reporter.

Protection of Personal Safety
- The ACRC may request the police to take personal protective measures, if an act of reporting endangers the reporter’s physical safety, or that of his or her relatives.

Reduction of Culpability
- If a report leads to the detection of a crime perpetrated by the reporter, the punishment or disciplinary action may be reduced or exempted.

Payment of Rewards
- If a report has directly resulted in recovering or increasing revenues for the central or local governments, a reward will be paid (up to 3 billion Korean won).
For reporting of an act detrimental to the public interest, the reward will be paid to the internal whistleblower.

Payment of Monetary Awards
- If a report has enhanced the public interest even if there is no direct recovery of or increase in revenue, a monetary award will be paid (up to 200 million Korean won).
Protection of public interest reporters
The ACRC protects public interest reporters, etc. (including relatives and cohabitants)
by protecting personal information or taking personal protective measures, etc., to prevent reporters from suffering from disadvantages or harm due to the public interest report, etc.
Rewards for public interest reporters
Public interest reporters
may be compensated by monetary rewards and awards, or relief money, etc.
